Pay Tax. Karo Relax - e - Payment (  Online tax payment ) is Compulsory

An advertisement issued by the Income Tax Department of the Goverment of India states that it is compulsory for the categories of tax payers to pay taxes online through designated bank accounts with effect from 01-04-2008.

The details are posted at www.tin-nsdl.com which is the Tax Information Network (TIN), a repository of nationwide tax related information. This has been established by National Securities Depository Limited on behalf of Income Tax Department of India (ITD).

All assessees will be required to open a net banking account through which the e-payment is to be effected. Assessees can also verify the payment details at https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/index.html

e -filing is compulsory for companies and other assessees whose accounts are audited u/s 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961. There is an invitation to Join the group of 16 lakh e -filers.
